American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

                               

This course trains individuals in the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.  This course includes certification in Lifeguard Training, Waterpark Lifeguard Training, First Aid, AED, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. 

             

Prerequisites:

ü      Minimum age 15 by the last day of the course

ü      Successfully pass a pre-course screening and testing

ü      Swim 300 yards continuously in the following manner

100 yards front crawl with rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing kick

100 yards breaststroke (with a pull, breathe, kick, and glide sequence)

100 yards of front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of the two

ü      Swim 20 yards using crawl stroke or breaststroke, surface dive 6-10 feet and retrieve a 10 lbs brick, and return to the starting point with both hands on the brick: This must be completed within a certain time limit.

                                                                                                        

Cost:

          $185 ($155 course fee + $30 non-refundable skills test administration fee)

             NKCCC Membership not required
